I woke up to a broken driver side window this morning and the first thing i do is call my insurance to ask if its covered. My insurance said it would cost 350 bucks to fix it and i have a 500 deductable so i gta pay out of pocket anyway. He scheduled an appointment for me to get it fixed at a local shop. Is this claim going to affect my rates?

Check the details on your policy. It should not increase your premiums but you may lose your 'no claims bonus' which in turn could increase your payments !!!

Ok why would you file a claim if it's less than your deductible? That doesn't even make sense. Just pay out of pocket and be done. They would just laugh at you if you tried to file a claim for something LESS than your deductible.

No. Since your deductible is $500, no claim is filed. Even if it costed he total of your deductible here is no claim to the insurance.

If you have a 500 dollar deductible don't even mess with insurance because you're going to be paying it all anyway.
