Hi I'm going on a European Roadtrip new Saturday and I live in the UK and I understand that I will need a GB sticker for my car. The question is can I ask DVLA to supply me with new numberplate with the GB embedded in the numberplate or should I buy the GB sticker? And I was looking at the Halfords website and I saw some numberplates that you can make with the GB like go. Can I make these numberplates and for them to my cae
And how much will the new GB numberplates be?

DVLA don't supply the number plates. You buy numberplates from someone who has a DoT licence to produce them (Halfords, other car parts shops, car dealers). All you need to do is take some form of ID and the registration document (to prove you are the registered keeper of the car) and get some plates made up, but you will have to pay.

A GB sticker is much cheaper.

In Halfords: From £31.98 for a pair of number plates.

From £1.99 for a GB sticker.

The DVLA won't supply you with new plates for free.

I would just get the sticker. If you haven't done so already, don't forget to check what you need to carry with you in your car. Some countries require replacement bulbs, some reflective triangles and flourescent jackets, I know France requires a breath test kit.

A GB sticker is not necessary. That requirement died many years ago.
