Is it a law in Colorado that you MUST have auto insurance?

I'm asking because our insurance through a company in Wisconsin is ending this month and we moved to Denver. We are still buying furniture and converting our plates and all that fun stuff so I'm wondering if we can wait before we get auto insurance because it's alot of money for us now. We can't afford it this month but can in December. So, can you get a fine for not having auto insurance if we get pulled over here in Denver?

Also now that I think of it. I'm having a hard time getting a hold of the Denver county DMV. I keep getting an automated voice message and to continue I need my mailbox number. which I don't get coz we live in an apartment. I saw that you have to have a city clerk or auto company verify the information you put on the application of the title, is that true? How and where do I do this? It also said something about an emission test? Is this required if we want to switch our plates to Colorado ones?

Thanks for you replies guys. Please don't spam this message. Nobody cares about your website your marketing.

Yes, liability insurance is required in all US states except New Hampshire. Do NOT drive one inch unless you have insurance. Look at the colorado DMV website for answers to your other questions

Absolutely. You will not only get fined, your car may be impounded as well.
