Regarding the Progressive Snapshot device. How many "hard brakes" are bad?

If you're not familiar, the Snapshot plugs into your vehicle and tracks the time of day you drive, mileage and hard braking to possibly discount your insurance. I was looking at my report online and I had 2 hard brakes registered today alone with a total of driving for one hour while my husband has 0, ever lol. In my defense, he goes to work and back mostly highway. I drive through town all day and deal with idiots on their cell phone who don't know how to use turn signals.

At what point does hard braking really keep you from getting a bigger discount?

Hi Yvonne, I work at Progressive and saw your post. Thank you for being a customer and giving Snapshot a try! Just to clarify, the Snapshot Discount is not based on any specific number of miles or instances of hard braking or driving late at night. Generally, people who drive less, in safer ways and during safer times of day are more likely to get a discount.

Hope that helps explain the program and here’s a link to more information in case you have more questions: http://www.progressive.com/snapshot/

I have heard the "hard brake beep" three times in the past five days (and believe me, I listen!) I went online today and saw about twelve hard brakes recorded. I am very careful when I drive - guess I should run through some of those yellow lights instead of stopping! This is frustrating - I sort of regret agreeing to try the program. I am a defensive driver because there are a lot of bad drivers here in Florida and I think I am going to be penalized for that...

I don't understand this going on-line to see your progress? I was under the assumption "when it beeps at you". Mine has beeped 3 times since Sept. How do I find out if there is more. That sounds a little shady to me. Being a senior on limited income I will probably have to change companies anyway as they say i have the lowest req. when I know two others who pay less then half i do. idk, we'll see
