No. Any erasures on a title will render it null and void. You neglected to mention location while asking on a world side site. Generic answer: Go to where titles are issues with all parties and the title and ask what you need to do. Some states allow you to fill out a form, others require a duplicate title to be issued.

Well I don't know where all these other knowledgeable folk are from, but in Alabama it is a LOT harder than just breeze in and get a form... replacement... blah blah blah.

My husband was working out-of-state in VA for several weeks & while there, bought a car that a gentleman had advertised in the paper... Came home, and when he went to put his signature as buyer the pen started skipping- he shook it, scribbled on another piece of paper and re-signed over his signature - with the same pen, mind you, and off to the DMV we go-- Now bear in mind, the ONLY issue with this title is his signature had to be doubled where the pen was skipping - all other info is correct and clear.

That was LAST YEAR. The DMV refused to accept the title, telling him to get a replacement from the original owner - who is over 8 hours and 3 states away, we have no phone number for, and when we sent him a letter explaining the situation to the address on the title, the PO in VA marked it Return to Sender - DECEASED.

That's right, dude is no longer alive. Guess what DMV says - contact next-of-kin (for this basically total stranger) & have them send a notarized statement and copy of the death cert.

So bs on dealing with the DMV is the best route to go, how the HELL can you eradicate the ink on a title???

Don't try to erase it, it will look like a forgery. Take it to the licensing office and ask for a replacement because you spoiled this one. There will be a fee for the new copy it but it will be better than having trouble trying to sell the car later.

yeah hundreds of ppl say nooo dont its bad, WE KNOW! So Dont spray oven cleaner and gently rub with fingertip because thats illegal! but it can easily fade the background ink like any other method thats the security aspect of titles . SO, please, just you go in the dmv with it theyll give you a form to take to the person who sold it, buy someone a beer in a bar to sign the damn thing. Works great

A baking pan with brake fluid use your finger to rub it off then wash it gently with dish liquid and warm water then blow dry it

You should try for a new one.
