Question:
Taking my Learner's Test?!?!?
?

Okay, so I am taking my learners test in about a month. My birthday is coming up so I am planning to take the test early in the new year, just before going back to school. I have a few questions and concerns. NOTE: I am in Alberta and will be taking the test through AMA Financial (Alberta Motor Association).

1. How do they mark you? Is it simply pass/fail? Do they keep the actual percentage you received in their records? How many questions are there (I've heard 25 or 30)? What percentage must you receive to pass? Also, if you fail, does it go into your personal record, that you tried and failed or does it simply say that you still don't hold a Class 7?

2. Any tips for studying? I have the Basic License Driver's Handbook (the orange one). I have started reading it and plan to read it through several times. I have already skimmed through it. I am slightly confused by some of the concepts in it. How can I have these cleared up? (Other than asking my parents.) Should I write it all down, use flashcards or get people to quiz me? I also found a few online practice tests. I am a BIG studier for school tests so I'm already freaking out!

3. How long does it take to take the test? How long do you get? Are there certain days that you can't go on or days that are better to go on? Do you take it alone in an empty room with an employee who works at the office? Do you take it with several other people? Are you ever left alone? Is it ever an open book exam (I doubt it)? It is multiple choice, right?

4. In the end, should I simply rely on logic and common sense to complete the test? I prefer multiple choice because really, they give you the answer! But does anyone have any tips or suggestions on how to take this sort of test?

Thank-you so much in advance! All help is strongly appreciated. Wish me luck!

I know that in Georgia (the state) you have to get above a 85% or 80% to pass.

Make notecards for studying. And use acronyms that help you.

Test length varies on the person.

You should always have the answer memorized, because sometimes the common sense answer is wrong.

What would you do if you fishtailed and start skidding on ice? Common sense tells you to slam on breaks and twist the wheel. WRONG

Let off the accelerator, and counter steer through the fishtailing

Not at all....it's no brainer questions. The only thing I would consider looking at is the road signs because there are a few that you aren't used to seeing that might be on it. Other than that its about where to have your hands on the wheel, etc. Just pick the most proper conservative sounding thing and you will most likely get it right lol.
