I passed my California Permit Test about a month and a half ago, and due to my schedule I ve been unable to take the behind the wheel class until now. After taking a closer look at the papers that they gave me, I m starting to get a bit skeptical as to whether I actually received my permit. I received two papers: A half-sheet with a header reading "RECEIPT - NOT A LICENSE OR PERMIT/NOT A VERIFIED IDENTIFICATION". It has the amount I paid on it, as well as my name and address and some numbers on the bottom. I also received another full sheet that says "IMPORTANT/RETAIN THIS PHOTO RECEIPT UNTIL YOUR DL/ID APPLICATION IS COMPLETE/NOT A LICENSE OR PERMIT." This sheet has a DL/ID, Office ID, Photo date/time, Photo sequence #, Type, and Receipt Date. The lower half of the sheet reads "THIS PHOTO RECEIPT IS FOR OFFICIAL DMV PURPOSES ONLY. THIS IS NOT A VERIFIED FORM OF IDENTIFICATION AND IS NOT TO BE ACCEPTED AS A VALID DRIVER LICENSE, INSTRUCTION PERMIT, OR IDENTIFICATION CARD." They told me I passed the test, and this is all I got. I m going to take the behind the wheel on Wednesday (5 days from now) and I need to know if what I have is my permit. Thanks!
