I have recently been awarded DLA Mobility at the Higher Rate and have found out that I am entitled to free road tax fund license. I know that I have to obtain a DLA 404, and need valid MOT certificate together with insurance certificate and a 'completed V11 reminder'! WHAT ON EARTH IS A V11 REMINDER!!! The sooner I found out I can get my car taxed for nowt which will help my cause! Thanks for your time in answering!

The V11 reminder is the form sent from the DVLA telling you that your road fund licence (tax disc) is due for renewal.

It is the form you would take to the Post Office with payment to get your new tax disc.

Completed just means you have to indicate whether you are applying for 6 or 12 months. There is nothing else to complete on it.

Remember your insurance certificate and MOT (if applicable)

Hope this helps.

About three weeks before your tax disc runs out, you should get a ‘Vehicle Licence Application/Statutory Off Road Notification’ (V11 reminder) from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). Use the V11 reminder to renew your tax online, by phone, by post or in person.

If the vehicle is not already registered as disabled the V11 is of no use to you. You will need to change the taxation class to disabled on the V5C (registration document) and take that with MOT, insurance and DLA404 to a tax issuing post office, it will be changed then and there and they will issue the free tax disc.
