Hi, most likely this will be classed as theft and will be put down as a claim on your record. Even if they do not take away your no claims bonus then you will still need to answer 'yes' to "have you had any previous claims-even non-fault?" for future insurance policies. I had a non-fault accident with my full ncb but my premium still went up by about £200 when it came to renewal. I would advise you bite the bullet and pay out the cash for the exhaust.
Also when you lock your car press the lock button twice to activate the alarm so it goes off in case the thieves return for the new one.
(As a side note I am 22 and insurance was actually cheaper for me to get comprehensive than third party f&t. With the cheaper insurance I also got no claims bonus protection which was only £70 more(5 years ncb).)

RE :The Catalytic Converter was stolen from my car. If I make a claim for this on my insurance will it effect my no claims bonus?
Update: My car is a 2002 Honda Accord. The Catalytic Converter was cut out in a way that has damaged my entire exhaust system so it all needs to be replaced. The cost will come to £595 including labour and VAT if I go independently. Does anyone have any experience of this? My cover is Third party, Fire, and Theft. I have 5 years no claims.
I'm a little concerned about losing it because I'm still a relatively young (23) male driver so my insurance price is likely to increase significantly if I lose it...

Ask your insurer about the TERMS of the insurance and if you are covered for no claims protection.
How someone can steal a catalytic converter is beyond me as they must have been tiny lol. Had i caught them i would have dropped the damn car on them and called the cops.

Think about your question - it really answers itself. You are getting a bonus for not making a claim, but are asking if making a claim will affect that......c'mon you can answer that one yourself. How much is your deductible? If it is nearly the cost of this repair you would probably be best off paying this out of pocket, therefore preserving your no claim status.

What is your excess?
Yes it will make a difference as you suffered a theft it should be covered.
My excess is £500 so for me a claim is not worth it.
Be warned they will be back for you new cat convertor. Look at getting a. Anti theft shield fitted.
They get about £10 for it and cost you a lot of money and activation.

Why would anyone here know as to your contract with an auto insurance company and the terms agreed to? The smartphone addiction pushed you to text invisible strangers online when the brain should have told you to call your own insurance company for information. If this is true, it is vandalism or theft.

YES. If you make a claim, you make a claim. However, not making the claim will probably cost you more, to get it fixed than you save with the discount.

If I even call my agent to enquire, would they still note it down in their logs and could it possibly effect my premium next year? Even if I decide to not actually make a claim?

"No claims bonus" = you have made no claims.
If you do make a claim, even if they don't pay out, you no longer have no claims.

Probably, and depending on your deductible you may not even get the cost of replacing it back. Call your agent and ask him or her.
