I currently have an expired out of state license?

I currently have an expired out of state license but I recenlty moved to a new state and am trying to get a new license. The only problem is that I have 2 traffic tickets and flags on my old license. Is it possible for me to get my new license without having to pay these old out of state fees? Do all DMV's have a national database or is it only for each state?

So your old licence couldn't be renewed without paying the tickets. This means you could not answer truthfully the question about renewal being prohibited. You cannot pretend the past does not exist. You have to clear the tickets up, and get the flags removed, which would likely put demerits on the licence as well. Do the crime, pay the time.

I mean, yeah you could technically go to the new state and say you never had an old driver's license, I mean act like this was the first time you had a driver's license, but they would probably run a search on your name and social security number and find it anyways. Now I do know that up to a few years ago not all states were connected. How do I know? My hubby had a driver's license in Mississippi, he got it the day before his Ohio driver's license expired and when we moved back to Ohio some cop pulled him over thinking he had an expired DL. He didn't of course cause he had the Mississippi one, but Ohio didn't know that.

i imagine you would ought to do theirs.i do not get at the same time as human beings bypass out of one state. And into yet another, why they don't basically wanna get their new license from the recent state. i know a few those that both have lived right here in calif. and moved someplace else. Or have lived someplace else and moved right here. and they have the different's motive force's license. i do not get that.

if your silly enough to go in a drivers license place knowing you have two tickets outstanding the last word you will hear is "can you hold on a minute", then the officer places you under arrest and you go to jail until the fine is settled. There is no second chance. Some jails will let you pay the amount in cash. But with two tickets and failure to appear I doubt you have that much cash in your wallet.

Yes, they have a national data base. Yes, you will have to pay the fines before getting license in another state.

Go in and get your license. They won't arrest you in another state anyway. Maybe it'll slide by. At worse, they'll tell you that you have to clear up the issue in the other state before you can get a new license.

All you need to know is.. YES all DMVs are connected. Lets say you had a suspended DL in Connecticut. You cant just move to New York and get a new DL with no problems.

As far as I know, they are tied together. What I would worry about is that the original state would suspend my license for unpaid tickets. Happens frequently.
