Soon I will be taking my behind the wheel driver's test at a Bay Area DMV in California. Where do I go to check in when I am inside the DMV?

Do I need to stand in the appointment line or do I go directly to a particular window that says "Report here for drive test?"

Behind-the-wheel tests are given by prior appointment only, for a particular date and time.

Make an appointment with the DMV to take your test. On the day of your behind-the-wheel test, arrive well before the time of day your test is scheduled, go into the DMV testing office and tell the person behind the counter what you're there for and what you want to do. He'll direct you, in case you need to go to a particular "window".

You really won't be able to work it out within 10 seconds of walking in the door?

All CA DMV offices will have two clearly marked areas to go upon entering.

For those who have appointments, and for those who do not.

It will be very obvious as soon as you walk in the front door.
