My Toyota truck was rear ended in a car accident. The party that rear-ended my truck took fault, and their insurance inspector repairs said would cost at least $3,500 or more depending on what the body shop finds when removing damaged parts. My Truck is a 2003 with 150k miles and current KBB value is approx. $5,900. Can I request to just have the car totaled by the other parties insurance? If so, would it beneficial for me to claim the Truck as totaled? My truck has had no major mechanical problems, and before the accident was in great condition. Again, the car is 10 years old and high on mileage. It’s a Toyota truck, so they tend to do well for a while even with high mileage IMO.

You can request it all you want, but they won't do it that way. They always follow the standard procedure, no exceptions.

The standard procedure is this: They get a full repair estimate from the body shop, then they send out an appraiser to do an evaluation of your vehicle on a without prejudice basis (that part is important). Then they compare your vehicle's actual cash (or depreciated retail) value with the repair estimate, and they go with whichever one is cheaper. The only time they stray from that formula is when the state / province has a law saying any vehicle damaged within XX% of its value has to be declared a total loss, because that's a statutory matter and isn't negotiable.

If the repairs cost less than the vehicle's value, they'll fix it. If the repairs are higher than the value, they'll write it off. That's the way it always works.

No. It;s not your choice to total the truck. The insurance company will make that determination.

except Arizona is a "no pay, no play" state, then sure, she will report a declare with the at-fault provider. She might desire to realize this. If it grow to be no longer her fault then her no longer having coverage shouldn't discern in (except as reported above according to the regulation). i be conscious of you mentioned no uncalled for feedback, yet come on!
