I have a special case and want to see if anyone can provide some information. I received a ticket in California (running a red light). 1 week later, I moved to Colorado where I now reside. I still have my California license. I am currently in the process of contesting the ticket via mail (so as of now, the CA DMV does not have any point/record of the violation, because I am contesting the ticket in court.

If I do lose my case, I will get a point on my record (on my CA record). My question is: If I get my Colorado license before a decision is made by the CA court, will the California DMV notify the Colorado DMV of the decision?

My goal is to avoid my insurance finding the point on my record. If I do indeed do not get out of the ticket, I can either wait to get my Colorado license, or get it while I'm still fighting the ticket. I guess the question also involves, when exactly, a state lets another state know of a violation and if it will do it after my CA license is no longer active.

You aren't guilty of it of course until you are convicted, and should you prevail it will never show. Of course if you are now a resident of CO you need to turn in your CA license and get a CO one within 30 days.

If you lose in CA, that information will become part of your driving record, and yes, CO and your insurance will see it. But at the same time when you apply for insurance you do sign that you will notify them of any change in your status, so if you lose in CA you are obligated to tell them that anyway.

But to answer your general question, yes, it will follow you.

Well I reside in the state of Delaware and my son had a ticket from Penn. where he lost his license in the state of Penn. So he moved back to Delaware and applied for a license here and the DMV said they could not give him a license until Penn. lifts his supension. So points do carry over from state to state. But don't tell your insurance company let them find that at for them selfs because alot of times they don't check. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

often a known offense DUI is a pair of million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days in reformatory as a max penalty. you obtain probation, what's your sentence?? lots of the time you're sentenced, the sentence is suspended and you're on probation for some quantity of time. in case you finished the probation with none violations you never ought to serve the sentence, yet once you violate you haven't any longer have been given the spectacular to an ordeal, in basic terms a listening to to ascertain whether or no longer you violated the probation. No jury the decide comes to a decision. In maximum states the courtroom can amend the sentence to have you ever serve under the unique sentence, yet not greater. if your probation is "defered adjudication" you will possibly no longer have had a sentence stated before, wherein case you're nonetheless observing the finished variety of punishment, as in case you probably did no longer start up probation. and it would be as much as the decide what to grant you. Your legal professional does not often have plenty impact in whilst the listening to would be held, yet might have the skill to ask for a continance if he can prepare the courtroom that there is "reliable reason" to no longer carry the listening to on the time whilst it is been scheduled. And, "My shopper is out of state without permission and thinks this is purely too confusing to return back to courtroom" might unlikely be seen to be reliable reason. might probably purely tick the courtroom off. So, in case you do no longer happen for courtroom next wednsday there'll be a warrant issued on your arrest. They probably won't come on your place to arrest you, however the subsequent time you're utilising and violate a site visitors regulation, get pulled over and supply your identity to the officer, the warrant will happen, you would be arrested, and held in reformatory whilst the different state makes a variety as to if or no longer they are going to come to get you. You probably waived your suitable to have a listening to on extradition once you signed up for probation, so which you would be able to no longer escape your duties by utilising staying out of your state. If the different state does not come get you because of the fact it must be too a ways, and that they do no longer choose to spend the money for a misdemeanor offense, then the finished approach of being held whilst they decied will happen each and every time you get pulled over for a site visitors offense till they the two come get you, or you pass back to the state the place your probation replaced into. reliable success

Even if your insurance company doesn't find out, you have lied to them when you apply for it and once they do find out they could back charge you the difference.
