Change of Address - Please no trolls?

I live in Virginia Beach, VA and I have lived here since August 15th 2015. When my mom and I moved here it was not our choice, but its a long story and I won't go into it. We basically thought we were just staying here temporarily so we never changed our plates or our license. We still have Ohio licenses and Plates on two of our vehicles. I am driving back to Ohio soon by myself and I am wondering what will happen if I get pulled over in the moutains. Virginia, West Virginia, anywhere I am an ABSOLUTE safe driver but for any reason I get pulled over... basically what I am asking is can you get arrested for not having a Virginia license after a few months of living in Virginia? If its just a bad ticket then I'll drive extra carefully. Cause I don't have time to go to the BMV. Please help. I'm a little scared.

You had 30 days (until Sept. 15, 2015) to switch the title, plates and drivers license to Virginia after you established residence in Va. It doesn't matter that you "thought" it would not be permanent. The Va. DMV doesn't care what you "thought" or what you intended. All that counts is that you DID establish residency and therefore should have made the car and yourselves legal. What will happen if you are "caught"? You will be cited and your vehicle could be seized and you could even end up in jail . However, How would we know *exactly* what will or would happen except to say it won't be a good thing for you ?

I suggest that you have the vehicle trailered back to Ohio.

Please don't use the juvenile buzzword; "basically". Despite what you and your teeny bopper friends believe, it DOES NOT make you appear intelligent, but rather just another juvenile "wannabe".

If your license and registration are up to date, you shouldn't have any problems. If you do get pulled over, just explain you're in the process of moving.
