Just had my renewal reminder for car insurance, and it has gone up - no surprise there then!
But they seem to be charging for their own breakdown cover now which is £76....do I need it, and do I have to include it??
Cant find an email address to ask this question, looked at FAQ on the website (nothing)
Obviously they want me to just go ahead and renew.
I have compared other quotes and to be honest they are still ok on price....so what to do next. Other than sit for 20 mins on a premium number phone line I was just wondering if anyone out there knew the answer or had this too??

Breakdown insurance is a very good idea. You can buy it from many other suppliers, so go on the web and see what they are charging for the same level of cover as churchill. If you can get it cheaper than do so and decline churchill's breakdown cover and just take their car insurance

You don't HAVE to have it, if you want breakdown cover have a look and see what AA/RAC etc cover costs and see if you think it's worth it.

whether you need the breakdown cover depends on the age and condition of the car and what contingencies you have in case of breakdown (husband/bf/father who can fix for you) and only you can decide that. Contact other imnsurance and breakdown-cover providers, AA, RAC, Green Flag, and get quotes, maybe your insurer will match a lower price but you don't have to take their offer.

You do not have to include it.

To decide if you need it just imagine what would happen if your car broke down -

1 at home

2 at work

3 on the motorway

4 anywhere else

Towing off the motorway can casy many more times the cost of AA or RAC for example

Now your choice - your risk

You are driving at night. It is dark and wet, you are miles from home. The car stops. You are a female on your own. What would you do?

Your answer to that will give you a clue.
